DL360, DL380 or DL160?

Gen9 and Gen10 ProLiant rack servers come in three main models. Choose by rack space, drive bays and memory.

DL360: 1U workhorse

Two processors and 24 memory slots in 1U. The standard choice for virtualisation hosts and application servers.

DL380: 2U, more bays

The same processors and memory as the DL360, with more drive bays and PCIe slots and quieter cooling. The best all-rounder.

DL160: value 1U

A lower cost Gen9 or Gen10 server with fewer memory slots, for lighter workloads and tight budgets.

HPE ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10?

Gen9 uses Xeon E5 v3/v4 processors and iLO 4. Gen10 moves to Xeon Scalable processors, faster DDR4 and iLO 5 with stronger firmware security.

What do SFF and LFF mean on HPE servers?

SFF (small form factor) means 2.5" drive bays, for SAS drives and SSDs. LFF (large form factor) means 3.5" bays, for high-capacity drives. The same model, such as a DL380 Gen9, comes in SFF and LFF versions.
